Here comes the MK4, AKA the Stooge Speedbomb, available for pre-order. But first of all, here’s a little bit about the bike:
The Stooge MKs 1, 2 and 3 have all shared pretty much the same geometry, but its all change for the MK4. This is the most radical bike I’ve designed. 66 degree head angle with a whopping 80mm offset for the fork. Thru axles front and rear, EBB, 30.9 seat post with stealth routing, and the most fabulous bi-plane forks to really give this frameset a classic, neo-retro vibe. 625mm ETT for short stem action. Triple cage mounts on the fork legs, triple cage mount on the downtube. 142×12 and 100×15, because Boost is a lie. Designed around a 29×3″/2.6″ combo, but like the earlier frames will also rock with full B+.
The geometry on this has been dragged kicking and screaming from the Dirtbomb, and how it translates is incredible stability at speed and insane agility on the twisty stuff, it really is a great leap forward and something i’m really excited about. I’ve also reverted to the skinny tubes of the earlier frames and the target weight for this is 5.5lbs. Suspension forks are not an option on this frameset, but really, you won’t want for them, the slacker head angle and offset fork both lightens the front end and does a fine job of keeping the trail chatter away, and the handling and ride will quite honestly leave you screaming for more. Oh yeah, back to one size on this one – little bit shorter than the MK3 20″ but with an 18″ seat tube that’s long dropper friendly. Shorter riders can run a 30mm stem and all will be well, taller riders can stretch it out a little. This isn’t a copout, just the way it is.

So in a nutshell, this for me is the final destination of rigid mountain bikes, I’ve not been this excited by the way a bike rides since I rode my first Stooge proto, throw in a dash of neo-klunker vibes and the upcoming Junker bar and this will be a true beast, as at home on the fast and frantic stuff as it is chugging away across the mountains fully laden.
